CURRENT SEASON:

IMG_3879.png

Based in Northwestern Vermont, the city of Embers Edge is (as far as we know) all that remains of the United States.

Although weather patterns are erratic, residents must tolerate the colder climate and brutal winters. Summers bring constant humidity, with highs of 90°F and several thunderstorms a month.

NORTHHAVEN: Out of everything Northhaven has to offer, the most notable location is Serenity Boulevard, the district's high street. Lined with endless department stores, fine-dining restaurants, boutiques, and plenty of hidden gems, Serenity Boulevard is a leisure hotspot you won't want to miss. There's even a public pool.

Along the eastern ridge is East Cairn (care-n), a sparse collection of factories, warehouses and supermarkets the size of football fields. Food, furniture, you name it - East Cairn produces it.

HYLLHURST: Though housing here is few-and-far-between, Hyllhurst is an extremely desirable place to live. Boasting a scenic forest, Beithe Park, a handful of small elementary schools, daycares and a middle school, each Hyllhurst street and home is kept pristine and polished.

The southern strip, known as Trinket Grove, is a popular place to splash a few rivets. Shopping here, you never know what you're going to get - antique stores, bookshops, thrifting, even handmade plushies. If you're lucky enough, you may even be able to rent an apartment above one of these whimsical outlets.

IRONRIDGE: Getting its namesake from Ironridge Industrial Park, this subdistrict is home to the city's largest military base, Northhaven Royal Training Academy (NRTA). There is no nearby housing, but there are a few leisure activities, like a shooting range and a bowling alley. The majority of Ironridge is high-rise office buildings and warehouses, with Graihn Street running through the midst of it all. To ease the pressure of commuting, a large metro station was recently added here.

REGAL TERRACE: If an idyllic townhouse central to the city is where you'd prefer to reside, Regal Terrace is the place to be. The main focus of this subdistrict is housing, with its homes boasting ivory brick that shimmers in the morning sun, three or even four stories, and a close proximity to local schools and daycares.

Flaunting picturesque cobbled paths, roads dusted with yellow leaf litter, and even the Noir Palace itself at the end of Sugar Maple Lane, Regal Terrace is a region dripping with allure.

In winter, The Reservoir is known to freeze over. Residents are advised not to, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, attempt to walk or skate across The Reservoir.

WESTHAVEN: With its close proximity to Midhaven and its accompanying travel links, this quaint little subdistrict is the perfect residence for your average blue-collar family. Homes here are abundant, clad with red brick and vibrant siding, ranging from storybook cottages to classical townhomes.
Whilst Westhaven lacks a focus on entertainment or leisure, the renowned Ivy Park Elementary is just a hare's leap away. Despite the absence of a metro link, city buses here seem to run on an impeccably tight schedule.

CLOVERSTEAD: Aptly named after one of many high-production farms within the region, Cloverstead is both one of the largest and one of the least populated areas within all of Embers Edge. Fields stretch across the horizon, rich with enchanted crops and overgrown greenhouses. Livestock and wild game flourish here, and although housing here is practically nil, those who spend their days getting their hands muddy do often hunker down in cottages or cosy cabins.

Up by the sand-and-slate of Lake Champlain, Cloverstead is home to The Beastiary, a sanctuary specifically dedicated to familiars.

CATTAIL BAY: A true portrait of suburbia, Cattail Bay is reserved for the most well-off of residents. Homes here are expansive and vibrant, with lap siding of every prismatic hue and lawns adorned with wildflowers. Some even outstretch across The Reservoir, a vast man-made lake previously serving as a dam, now simply utilised for gathering rainwater. Wildlife live a life of luxury here, and at its northern point, this subdistrict features a long-forgotten lake port. Whether a resident of one of Cattail Bay's abundant mini-mansions, or simply spending the day here, a stroll along the serene shores of Lake Champlain is a guaranteed way to clear one's mind.

FYRFETHER: Encircling the famed Phoenix Academy (the city's only high school) is Fyrfether, a compact subdistrict packed border to border with housing. Often cramped, overgrown duplexes, these brown-brick homes are populated by students and starving artists the like. Academy Avenue, one of very few truly walkable routes in Embers Edge, funnels residents to the central city with its aromatic fir trees and creeping thistles.

MIDHAVEN: The powerhouse of Embers Edge, Midhaven is overflowing with leisure activities (restaurants, cafes, bars, arcades, a movie theatre, bowling, to name a few), wellness opportunities (a gym, a massage parlor), and stores selling anything imaginable. Almost all of these things are a feature of the Midtown Mall, a principal hub for all things entertainment.
Accompanying this whimsical plaza is Central Park, a portal into nature amidst the high-rises. Seasonal events are often held here, like the Summer Sulstice Fete, and with integrated metro links, citizens from all walks of life may attend.
Lastly,
this subdistrict is home to Midhaven Regional Medical Centre, or M.R.M.C, the cities main hospital - capable of treating over 20,000 patients at any given time.

RUSTFORGE: Home to the bustling Rustforge Manufacturing Zone, the air in this subdistrict has a distinct twang of engine oil. Bordered by a cargo-focused railway route, Rustforge is packed with warehouses, factories and high rises, operating 24/7 to ensure the city's high demands for resources are met.

Vehicles, housing materials, select foodstuffs and a surplus of military equipment are fabricated here; the latter being mass-produced along Ammunition Alley.

Though there is no housing in this region, work opportunities are plentiful to say the least.

DUSKVALE: Packed to the absolute brim with stores, restaurants, and other leisure opportunities, there's no telling what sort of business may radiate out from Eventide Boulevard. From ritzy rooftop bars to the grimiest of basement nightclubs, in Duskvale, you never know what you're gonna get.  Thanks to an underground metro stop, this subdistrict is easily accessible - and accepting - to all. The alternative scene is strongest here in Duskvale, and it takes a great effort to find a building that isn't plastered with graffiti. While housing isn't a main priority in this district, you'll find a select handful of apartment blocks scattered throughout.

ASHENVIEW: Small but mighty, this subdistrict is practically wall-to-wall housing and small businesses, with most of it's quaint little residences offered to struggling students or even refugees from the waste (though these are incredibly rare). The city's secondary hospital, Wrenwyre University Hospital, or W.U.H for short, is located here, filled with interns desperate to earn their scrubs. Ashenview also boasts the city's leading middle school.

SOUTHHAVEN: Despite being the largest subdistrict in Embers Edge, Southhaven doesn't have as much to offer as it's name may suggest. The primary focus of this region is the defence of the city, featuring a large military base to the southernmost point, and a tangled network of railway lines, including the city's principle transport hub. Also nestled within the southern woodland is Wrenwyre University, an echo of the former Aure Academy, offering degrees of all kinds to Embers Edge residents. Wren's Roost offers a wide array of house shares with varying price points, for those who do not wish to rough it out in the university's dormitories. If you'd prefer to escape the hubbub of a busy city, a quiet cottage along Cedar Crescent may be more to your liking.

HEMLOCK HOLLOW: A dreary little neighbourhood central to The Dust District, this region is a distinct blend of fire-worn apartment blocks, towering townhouses and homes so decrepit, building regulators fear stepping foot on the cobbled streets. Despite being so 'rustic' in appearance, a fair few families call Hemlock Hollow home, with a fair few convenience stores, elementary schools, daycares and a 'well-loved' playground to the east. A surprisingly ideal place for a grounded upbringing, this subdistrict also boasts a brand-new military outpost, sheltered by the redwoods of Nightshade National Park.

Local Representative: ---

CINDERGROVE: Split practically in two by a railway viaduct (the underneath of which being a very popular hangout spot for young teens), Cindergrove is a cobbled together housing conglomerate. Reconstructed quickly after the great blaze, this subdistrict has little to boast but small, modular homes, a sprinkling of townhomes and the constant whir of high speed trains. It is, however, an ideal locale for the working mana-folk, or even students, with an above-ground metro station, Wrenwyre University being only a stone's throw away, and plenty of employment opportunities in Rail's Rest Locomotive Works. Other than functioning as an anarchic youth hotspot, and a dilapidated skate park there is little else to note about Cindergrove.

NIGHTSHADE NATIONAL PARK: Though not a subdistrict, this exceptionally biodiverse woodland is a notable smudge on the map of Embers Edge and is worth a mention. Prior to the advent of rifts and the resulting dangers, Aure Academy was nestled within this dense forest, shaded by colossal redwoods and dense firs. Nowadays, it is strongly advised not to set foot past the split-rail fencing, even if just to glimpse at the hidden falls, or gaze upon the freakish familiars that reside here. Unlicensed hunting or any form of vandalism here is a federal offense.
