Closest by far to the world we know, The Overworld is the realm of the living. It is not an everlasting dimension - there was a time before, and there will be a time after.
The Overworld includes Earth, the solar system, and the wider universe. There are no 'authentic' ways of accessing this dimension, all living beings simply reside here.
Little is known of what Earth looks like outside of Embers Edge, as navigating a radioactive, hellbeast-filled wasteland without proper equipment is ill advised.
From purely anecdotal evidence, as very few people have survived The Waste, we do know that the majority of Earth is barren, free from any signs of life. The rest of it? Underwater.

A beautiful and idealised dimension, The Afterworld is often dubbed Heaven due to its similarities to Christian mythology.
Order is kept by The Gods (of all shapes and sizes) and angelic beings, their role involving fulfilling every want and desire of the realm's residents, if these are deemed honourable.
The Afterworld is often viewed as the reward for making good choices, for loyalty and for honouring virtues until the moment you take your last breath.
Upon entering, residents appear as their truest selves, whether this is the age they experienced the most joy, or without marks and scars that remind them of their past hardship. Everyone is happy. Everyone is free. Pain is no longer a consequence.
Those who are smiled upon by The Gods, and reside here after death include:
- Angels, if not fallen.
- Nymphs, if not decayed.
- All other light-manafolk, if they live an honourable life.
- Dark-manafolk who have been redeemed.*
- Humans who have lived a life of True Good.

*Redemption and Damnation:
With some exceptions, throughout their lifetimes, dark fauna are offered opportunity after opportunity to redeem themselves in the eyes of The Gods. This can involve sacrifice, or simply an act of pure kindness, living your life in an honourable manner.
This concept of karma and honour works in both ways… those who stray far from the virtuous path of a being of light are punished for their misadventures.

Also known as The Void or The Absence, The Abyss exists as the plane between The Underworld and The Afterworld. It is vast, it is nothing, it is all at once.
An existence in The Void is an existence of silence, with nothing but your own arms to caress you and your own thoughts to busy you.
While the other realms are escapable through various means, once one is bound to The Abyss, there is almost no chance of ever escaping the neverending darkness.
Those who will almost always find their fate in The Absence include:
- Most humans (if morally neutral)
- Any ‘dim’ beings, those who possess both light and dark mana, if not redeemed. This includes 'False Fallen Angels' and 'False Decayed Nymphs'.
- Anyone who dies in a manner involving an abyss crystal.

Also known as Hell, The Dark World, or The Infernal, The Underworld is a distorted mirror of The Overworld, trained to give those who reside within their own personal hell.
Residents are surrounded by their greatest fears, their deepest regrets, and every single mistake they may have made, playing on repeat, playing on loop.
Every injury ever sustained in life is present in death, bleeding, dripping, festering. Burns continue to burn until no flesh is left… but was that flesh ever truly there?
Time passes differently within The Underworld - the passage of time is non-linear, ever warping and ever changing, sometimes even unravelling backwards like unspooled film.
Those who are always damned to The Underworld include:
- Demons
- Other dark-manafolk, if not redeemed.
- 'Fallen' variants of light-manafolk
- Other light-manafolk, if they commit an act reprehensible enough to be damned.
- Humans who have committed a heinous act.
